A Squire is a young man apprenticed to a Knight. His duties include taking care of his Master's war horse,

and his Master's other armaments. In the process of serving their Knights, Squires learn the principles of Knighthood,

and also receive training in the art of warfare.

When a Squire's preparation is complete, he may be knighted at a ceremony when the King rests his royal sword

lightly upon his shoulder. At this moment the Squire passes into Knighthood.
